Shorts Downloader is built to collect as little as possible. This page explains exactly what happens when you use it.
No accounts
There are no accounts or sign-ups. We don't ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.
Links you paste
- The links you paste aren't saved. The server reads the video ID from the link and uses it to look up the video on YouTube.
- To avoid repeating the same lookup, a video's details are kept in the server's memory for up to 10 minutes and then discarded.
- When a download needs video and audio merged, the files are written to a temporary folder on the server and deleted as soon as the download has been sent, or if it's cancelled or fails.
Server logs
When something goes wrong, the server records a short error message so problems can be fixed. These messages can include the YouTube video ID involved. Your IP address is held in memory for about a minute to enforce request limits and isn't written to these logs. The company hosting the server may keep its own standard access logs.
Cookies and local storage
- Download status cookie. When you start a download, the server sets a cookie that tells the page the download has begun or failed. It contains no personal information and expires after 60 seconds.
- Theme preference. If you switch between light and dark themes, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics.
Third parties
- Video thumbnails load directly from YouTube's image servers, so YouTube (Google) can see your IP address when a thumbnail is shown.
- The share buttons are plain links. Nothing is loaded from those social networks unless you click one.
- Fonts and all other files are served from this site.
Video lookups and downloads are made from our server, not your browser. This site isn't affiliated with YouTube or Google.
