YouTube profile pictures, explained
What you can paste
- An @handle, such as
@BlenderOfficial - A channel link:
youtube.com/@name,youtube.com/channel/UC…,youtube.com/c/nameoryoutube.com/user/name - A channel ID on its own (24 characters starting with
UC) - The link of any video or Short from the channel
Why the original size, and no "HD" upscale
YouTube keeps the picture a channel uploaded and shows it at small sizes, such as 88 × 88 next to comments. The original is the largest real version; for most channels it's between 400 and 900 pixels square, depending on what the creator uploaded. You'll see its exact size before you download.
YouTube can also stretch the picture to larger sizes, but that only enlarges the same pixels and makes it look soft. So this tool offers the original and smaller sizes, never an upscale.
Round or square?
Profile pictures are shown in a circle on YouTube, but the file itself is square. Anything near the corners is hidden on YouTube and visible in the download.
Using a channel's picture
A profile picture is often a logo or a photo of a real person. It's fine to save one for reference, for example to credit or link to a channel. Using it in your own branding, or in a way that suggests you're that channel, isn't, unless the owner agrees.

FAQ
Profile picture questions
How do I download a YouTube profile picture?
Paste the channel's @handle, its link, or a link to one of its videos into the box above, then select Download next to the size you want.
What size is a YouTube profile picture?
YouTube recommends uploading at least 800 × 800 pixels, and keeps the picture at the size it was uploaded. This tool shows that original size. On YouTube itself it's displayed much smaller, for example 88 × 88 beside comments.
Can I get a YouTube profile picture in HD?
You can get the original upload, which is the sharpest version that exists. Anything larger would just be the same image stretched, so it isn't offered.
Can I find a channel from a video link?
Yes. Paste the link of any video or Short and the tool finds the channel that uploaded it.
Why can't the tool find a channel?
Check the spelling of the handle: it has to match exactly, including dots and underscores. Channels that have been deleted or terminated can't be found.
