YouTube channel IDs, explained
What a channel ID is
Every YouTube channel has a permanent ID: 24 characters starting with UC, such as UCSMOQeBJ2RAnuFungnQOxLg. A channel can change its name and its @handle, but never its ID, which is why apps, analytics tools and APIs ask for it.
Handle, custom URL or ID?
- @handle (
youtube.com/@name): the short, readable name. It can change. - Custom and legacy URLs (
/c/name,/user/name): older addresses that still work for many channels. - Channel ID (
/channel/UC…): the permanent address. It always works.
This tool accepts all of them, plus a link to any video, and returns the ID.
What else you get
- RSS feed:
youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UC…. Add it to any feed reader to follow new uploads without an account. - Uploads playlist: the channel ID with
UCchanged toUU. It lists every public upload, newest first. - Subscribe link: adding
?sub_confirmation=1to a channel link opens a subscribe prompt. Creators often use it in descriptions and on websites.
Finding your own channel ID
Signed in to YouTube, open Settings → Advanced settings, or in YouTube Studio go to Settings → Channel → Advanced settings. You can also paste your own @handle here.

Paste the channel's @handle, its link or any of its video links into the box above. The ID is the 24-character code starting with UC.
Can I find a channel ID from a video?
Yes. Paste the link of any video or Short and the tool returns the ID of the channel that uploaded it.
